New Beginnings VI

This story is pretty heavy…you have been warned

New Beginnings VI
Lifting her jump kit and giving a final melancholy look around the fire house Lexi blinked away her tears and closed the door to her locker. Stuffing her lock into her pocket she turned to see Antoine standing at the door waiting for her. “Are you alright Lexi? You still have time to change your mind about quitting you know.” Giving a terse shake of her head she looked down and headed towards him and the door. “No, I am not changing my mind Twan. I have a week before school starts and I am lucky enough to be able to focus on that and the clinic now. So…I guess it is time to go.” He held open the door as she walked through and they made their way to the parking lot. After helping her load up the car with her things they stood for several minutes in silence. Finally Antoine spoke, “Lexi, I don’t want to lose my partner, but I really don’t want to lose my friend.” Turning to him she reached out and gave him a hug, “Twan…I will always be your friend, you know that. You know where to find me and you have my new number right?” As she was pulling away he reached out to her unexpectedly and pulled her close. “I swear to you, if he ever lets you down. I will pick you up, do you hear me. I have been wild about you since the first day I walked in this joint.” Catching her by surprise he kissed her unexpectedly, his lips untamed as they landed on hers and he softly tried to pry hers apart with his tongue. Lexi pushed him away and wiped the back of her hand across her mouth. “Twan, I love him, please…don’t, just don’t.”

Blindly reaching for her keys out of the trunk lid she glanced up as she stepped around the car to leave, but as soon as their eyes met his across the distance her heart fell. “Oh god” She quietly whispered. “Michael, wait…don’t leave, I can explain.” She watched as he closed the door of the limo that had pulled up in front of the fire house with a slam. Breaking into a run she sped towards him as the limo drove off. “Damn you Twan, you knew he was there. Why would you hurt me like that?” Running back to her car she heard Twan yell, “He is gonna do you wrong Lexi, when he does I will be here for you.”

Pulling up behind his limo at a red light Lexi jumped from her car and beat on the window. “Michael, don’t run from me. You know nothing happened back there.” Watching as the glossy black of the window slowly slid down she heard Michael’s voice from deep inside the car. “It didn’t look that way. He was all over you…damn girl, Why?” Michael’s face suddenly appeared and he grabbed her and pulled her down. “I just watched another man kiss my woman, and she didn’t seem like she hated it. Let me be mad…do you remember saying that?” The light turned green and he told the driver to go, leaving her standing in the street. The impeded traffic started to honk at her so she slowly made her way back to her car not following Michael but instead pulling over into an empty parking lot.

Michael was shaking he was so angry. Expecting to surprise her with a night at the hotel he was shocked to see her in the parking lot with Antoine. Deep inside he knew that she didn’t initiate the kiss, but he couldn’t help being jealous of the blatant move Antoine put on her when she was vulnerable. As always his first instinct was to run and ignore the problem but seeing her standing by the car pulled him back.

The smell of rich wood and leather hit her as she laid her head on the steering wheel. Feeling the hot tears of hurt and embarrassment fall down her cheeks she didn’t see the limo pull up beside her in the parking lot. Hearing the light tap on the window was startling and she jumped slightly as she raised her head up. Seeing Michael standing there chewing on his fingers with his arm crossed close around his middle pulled on her heartstrings. “Get out of the car Lexi.” Michael ordered. Taking a deep breath she opened the door and stood before him waiting for his admonishment. Michael pushed the door closed, pressing her against the car with his body. “I am mad, you get that right?” Lexi nodded her head slightly, her eyes still wet with tears. “I saw it all, I know you didn’t do anything wrong, but dammit girl…..you are MINE, how dare he touch you like that.” Claiming her lips he kissed her almost cruelly, pushing her head and body back against her car. Lexi felt his hardness push on her as his tongue swept her lips open so he could assert his dominance over her. Finally forcing his mouth away from hers he whispered huskily, “Get in the limo…now!” “Michael, the car I can’t leave it here.” Pulling her by the wrist he simply said, “Miko will bring it, get in.”

Almost shoving her in the door of the limo, Michael spoke through the open glass of the driver’s compartment. “Miko, get her car and drive it to the hotel please.” Rolling up the privacy glass he locked it and turned off the intercom system. He still had a firm grip on her wrist and Lexi finally implored of him, “You’re hurting me Michael…not so tight.” Snorting his displeasure he tossed her arm aside and moved away and closer to the door. They drove the remainder of the way in a heavy silence, with Michael giving her an occasional angry look from his corner of the limo, while he mixed up and drank several strong drinks.

Hotel security escorted them up to the room and the silence was deafening to Lexi. Michael was courteous to the staff as they left them in the suite and finally stood alone. His last instruction to the staff had been that he would call for dinner but the dining table was already set. Michael stood in front of the fine china and silver even inspecting a plate carefully before launching it across the room. Lexi jumped back as Michael, in one motion swept the remaining place settings off and they loudly crashed to the floor. Spinning around to face her he stood with his hands on his hips and a fire in his eye that she had not seen before.

Slowly he approached her; it was cool, confident, and most defiantly a swagger. Once again he grabbed her wrist and pulled her with him, as he backed up toward the table jerking her forward so that her body was pressed close to his and said in a low voice. “What did he tell you Lexi? That he was all man? That he could satisfy you more? Did he tell you that the lies they print about me are true?” She tried to yank her arm free but he gripped it even tighter, “Michael, don’t do this, it was nothing. He means nothing…I love you.” Glass crunched beneath their shoes as they backed up against the table and he quickly shifted her around and forced her against it. His fiery dark brown eyes glazed over as he buried his face in her neck and growled in her ear. “I am going to show you right now Alexis…I am all the man you will ever need.”

Fumbling hands found their way under her skirt, roughly pulling her into him while he felt her soft skin under his touch. Finding a tiny piece of string around her hips he pushed her skirt up around her waist to investigate and saw her red g-string. “Oh god Lexi, what is this. It’s so sexy.” Running his hand down her thigh she saw the look of lust in his eyes as he scanned her hips. “They are for you baby, I found them for you.” Michael placed his lips in that soft place near the bend of her leg and pulled the soft lace aside. “I can smell you already girl, wait till you feel me taste you.” Pulling her apart he buried himself upon her. His lips and tongue licking and sucking her tenderness with a desire she was almost scared to feel. Pushing her forcefully back on the table he lay down and pushed her legs wide and sunk his tongue deep inside her. Pushing it in and out like a machine working to taste every drop her body created. Rising up he licked his fingers and inserted them inside her, watching her face as she moved down upon them…eager for more. Twisting them upward he pushed her towards a climax, knowing how sensitive her G-spot was, his own erection pushed firmly against his pants as he watched her face twist in pleasure. Once again his lips fell down on her, rolling his tongue over her swollen core….sucking it, priming it as his fingers worked her towards her orgasm. A twinge grabbed at his hand, and then another. Knowing her peak was near he pulled his fingers out, and ripped her g-string off. Unzipping his pants he pushed his long thickness inside her, physically holding her down on the table. Lexi’s cries filled the room and he stood again and violently forced himself inside her over and over. “Michael, oh Mich…ah,” Lexi’s moan of ecstasy was lost as he was beyond tenderness, beyond hearing. This time he was all about his own feelings, his own pleasure. “Don’t fight it…can you feel that? Tell me I am better than him? How dare you leave me again, how dare you. I won’t let you Diane, I won’t let you.” She was ablaze from the table digging in to her and her insides began to burn with the beginnings of her rapture. Hot walls clamped down on his shaft and her hips bucked and rolled under his thrusts. Michael pushed her hard and the sweat flew off of his face as he threw his head back in one final thrust into her waiting chasm. Lexi’s hips still shook as Michael pulled away from her, leaving her to lie on the table cold and alone.

Michael stumbled through the broken glass; his pants still unzipped and made his way to the bar. Opening some tequila he drank right from the bottle and wiped his forehead with his sleeve. Setting the bottle down heavily, he fastened his clothes and walked to the bedroom taking the tequila with him and locked the door.

Curled up in a ball on the table Lexi heard his words echo over and over again in her head. She knew he had been drinking but why would he call her Diane? Tears came to her eyes as she struggled with the realization that he still had feelings for someone in his heart. She had known about Hunter, but she was gone…there was no chance of her showing up and she knew where she stood. Now he called her by another lovers name in anger, out of passion and because of what Antoine had pulled today it had brought back some hurtful memories for him. Slipping from the table she stepped around the broken glass, picking up her torn g-string, and threw it away in the trash. Finding a bag in the kitchen she picked up the broken dishes and called housekeeping to come up to the suite to vacuum the remaining glass from the carpet.

Miko arrived with the housekeepers and gave Lexi a serious look as he handed her the keys to her car and her bags. Excusing herself she took a shower and changed into her spare clothes. Miko was on the couch watching TV when she finished and she sat down beside him, her hair still in a towel. Miko hit the mute button on the remote and Lexi watched in silence as America’s Funniest Videos played cruelly in front of her. “What happened? It looked like a tornado went through here when I came in.” Shaking her head, Lexi looked at him with tired eyes. “He kind of went crazy, Miko he was so mad. I don’t know…he even called me Diane, do you know who that is?” Their conversation was interrupted by Michael walking out of his bedroom and coming in to stand in front of them. “So you goin ta kiss em too? Ga head, I am ‘ere now isn’t that when you like to do it?” Swigging the last of the tequila out of the bottle he tossed it at Miko. “Git me someore, am not don yet.” When he turned to walk back to his room he stumbled against a bookcase and fell down. Miko jumped up and helped him to his feet. “Mike, let’s just get you to bed…come on you are really drunk.” Pushing Miko away Michael tried to walk again and crashed into the wall hitting his shoulder. “Dammit, leave me lone.” His cry resounded through the suite leaving Miko and Lexi stunned. Miko finally let him stumble back to his room but luckily this time he fell upon his bed with a loud moan leaving the door open.

“Did he really call you Diane?” Miko asked Lexi. “Uh huh, who is she?” Lexi’s eyes were wide and scared as Miko sat back down on the couch with her. “It’s not good, Diane is Diana Ross. I guess today must have triggered some of that old pain in him.” Miko wiped his hand across his face and looked at her with a serious expression. “Lexi, he is not doing so well. Ever since Hunter died he has really started to drink and I know he takes pills. Sometimes it’s better than others. Tonight though, this is bad.”

Lexi jumped up and ran to the bedroom, and started searching through his things. Michael struggled to sit up on the bed but could only stare at her with heavy, bloodshot eyes. “Whah you doin Lex, stop it..jus stop.” Leaping on the bed she pulled him up to her face, “NO! No Michael…what did you take.” Her voice cracked and she lost her composure, “Please baby tell me what you took tonight. I love you so much…tell me now.” His hand touched her face tenderly and even in his inebriated state she could see his eyes soften. “love you too Lex, don hate me baby. Gotta sleep now…go to slee…..” “Meeeekooooo!” Lexi’s yell tore through the suite and he ran to help her. “Help me get him on the floor, he passed out” Miko picked him up and laid him down. “Have you ever seen him this bad? Keep him on his side in case he gets sick.” Miko looked at her with a serious expression. “Lexi, he is like this a lot. He just doesn’t do it in front of you. He usually does it late at night.” Lexi felt her legs grow weak and she sat down beside Michael. “What are you saying? Does he need Betty Ford, is it that bad?” Miko shrugged and looked away. “I don’t know…it comes and goes. He has been pretty good since he met you though.” Lexi checked his pulse, “I knew there was a problem Miko, but I didn’t know it was like this. I need to know what he took tonight, can you find out? I want to stay with him.” Miko searched through the bedroom and bathroom for the sad evidence she had asked for. While Lexi curled around Michael’s body and gazed down upon his beautiful face, kissing him tenderly. “I love you Michael. I promise you I will be here for you. We will get through this together.”

Michael opened his eyes carefully and caught sight of the bottom of the bed linens next to his nose. His body ached and his head felt like an ice pick was being jammed through his eyeball. “Oh gah, what the…ahhhh.” His stomach rolled but he was able to fight off the feeling of nausea and sit up. Seeing Lexi lying beside him he wondered what had happened and why they would be down on the floor instead of the bed. Standing on his unsteady feet he swiftly sat on the bed as he felt another wave sweep over him. Lexi felt him move away from her and opened her eyes to see him holding his head in his hands. “Are you alright Michael?” He looked up cautiously through his fingers, his skin pale and voice shaky, “I don’t feel so good…What happened?” “Maybe you should go take a shower, you might feel better.” Lexi stood up to comfort him stroking his shoulder softly, “Yeah, I think I will. My head is killing me.” Walking slowly to the bathroom he reached for the knob but found nothing. “Lexi what happened to the door? Where is the door knob?” Looking over to the bedroom door he saw that it had also been removed. He tried to spin around to accuse her of removing them but only stumbled and grabbed his head again. “They are all gone; the only lock left is the one on the front door. We are going to take care of your problem now Michael.” Lexi stood squarely in front of him, watching as his face once again clouded over in anger. “What? What have you done? You have NO RIGHT!” Suddenly changing his approach he took her by the shoulders trying to reason with her, “Lexi, I just had too much to drink last night. Really, how many times have you seen me like that? I promise you I won’t let it happen again.” She pushed him away as he tried to hug her. “No, no Michael look at what you did. Look at me.” Lexi pulled the sleeve of her shirt up and showed him her wrist. It was encircled in blue and purple bruises. Pulling up the bottom of her shorts she showed him the same type of bruises his hands had made as he roughly made love to her the night before. When he saw them he fell to his knees, tears pooling in his eyes. “Tell me there is a mistake baby; tell me I didn’t do that. Oh my god…please tell me I am not Joseph.” Kneeling down she pulled him close, “Michael, I can’t tell you that…not right now. Let me help you get better.” Giant sobs racked their bodies and they clung to each other for a long heartbreaking silence. Finally he spoke through his angst-ridden tears , “I’m scared Lexi…I don’t know how to be me anymore…I don’t know who I am.” Lexi kissed his now puffy eyes with her soft lips, “I know you Michael, that’s who I fell in love with. I am not leaving you; I will hold on every minute.”

Michael paced the hotel suite, back and forth constantly across the same length of carpet in the sitting area. “Lexi, can we please get out of here? Really I just need a quick drive around the block; I don’t think I can take another minute in here.” Lexi brought him some chamomile tea to help calm his nerves. “I don’t want it, god…don’t you understand? My head is killing me. I HAVE to get out of here now.” Michael continued his pacing rubbing his arms as he fought the chills overtaking his body. It had been fourteen hours since he had taken something and he could think of nothing else he wanted right now. Abruptly changing direction he walked into the bedroom and pulled his suitcase out. Futilely shaking his clothes and checking the pockets for a lost pill that Miko or Lexi may have missed. Lexi soon heard the drawers being flung open and tossed on the floor violently. Standing in the doorway she watched as he searched in vain. “Michael we found them all, the ones you hid under the mattress…even the ones behind the drawers. Plus Bill cleaned out The Ranch too.” “You guys are unbelievable; you are treating me like I am some kind of monster!” Michael’s voice had become screechy and high pitched. “Lexi please just let me have one more…that’s all I need. It is hurting so badly.” Sitting abruptly on the bed he kicked one of the drawers away in anger and looked at her like a petulant child. Calmly she replaced the drawers and left him to his anger, as she walked down the hall she heard him mutter under his breath, “Bitch!” Assuming it was just the withdrawal talking and that he was reacting to not getting his way for once. God he was good, so good, if she hadn’t flushed every last bit of the meds away she may have relented and given him his one pill.

Hours later Lexi awoke from her nap to hear him getting sick in his bathroom. Rushing to his side she knelt down beside him and pulled his hair into a ponytail. Wet and shiny eyes greeted hers when she handed him a wet towel and he hissed coldly, “I hate you Lexi, I swear it. I hate you.” She flinched visibly as his icy venom stung her to her soul and tears staind her face as he pushed her away to lay alone on top of his bed. Once again she heard him mumble “I hate you…I hate you.” While he finally fell asleep, in a tortured haze of sickness, sweats and chills.

It was the fifth day of sobriety and Michael sat quietly by the window looking down on the gardens of the hotel. He had showered and finally dressed in jeans and a white t-shirt, but wore his trademark sunglasses even as he had eaten a hearty breakfast at last.

He had remained silent since he had yelled so cruelly at her; all except for his groans of agony as he wretched the remaining sickness out of his system. Lexi gathered her things and had her keys in her hand hoping against hope that he would ask her to stay. As she finally turned to leave Miko gave her a solemn look since Michael did not acknowledge her departure or devotion to his well being.

The elevator ride seemed endless as Lexi left her life with Michael; she knew she had done the right thing by forcing him to face his demons…but now realizing that she had lost him she wondered if she would do it  over again.

Understanding it was futile, but not caring about appearances any longer she walked around to the side of the hotel that overlooked the gardens and looked up at Michael’s window. She knew he would still be there…watching nothing as he had for the last day. Maybe, just maybe she could get through to him one last time. She stood there for what seemed like forever, staring up at him, before walking away with her heavy heart.

Removing his sunglasses he leaned forward and watched her until she finally walked away. Seeing her pain etched on her face he felt hot tears sting his eyes. He loved her so much, he wanted to run after her and beg her to stay….silently he put his sunglasses back on and leaned back in his chair, ignoring what his heart begged him to do.

Lexi wiped her tears as she left him there, a King alone…on top of his throne

I love Love LOVE when things get to crucial emotional/psychological hubs. I hope their love and passion will stay intense like this for a quite a bit before fate (maybe) eventually decides otherwise. Could she be the first one to really force him to face his demons? Is he going to retreat into denial (as we know he did, unfortunately)soon? I'm ready for what's next…

I was not expecting this ending but very intriguing, and I liked it. No sappy stuff… MJ was a conflicted man and this is the first fan fic that really does try to delve into his emotional state.

To LIML,

Glad you are intrigued and that you like it.
You know how much I regard your opinion.
I figure if I am going to spend this much time doing this I want to have a quality, thought provoking product.

I guess the part that is hurtful, is that I am afraid this scenario did probably occur in his life. That bright light starting to flicker…

To annah,

Thanks for your email, I will certainly take your suggestion into consideration. I had always kind of planned at stopping when he met Lisa…because we pretty much know the story from there. However, we do have the lost years of 2000-2009 dont we?

I know this last chapter was depressing, unfortunatly I write grown up stuff and it is not always gonna be happy. Just like life.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR INPUT, I so love hearing from you. It means so much to me, it really really does.

To Jen,

Your enthusiasm is inspiring!!!! It makes me SOOOOO happy that you like Michael and Lexi together.(on paper LOL) I can honestly say it freaks me out that there are people out there who enjoy reading this stuff. So totally cool, REALLY!

I loved this chapter! I often go back and read it randomly. It was very real and honest and makes me cry every time:

He still had a firm grip on her wrist and Lexi finally implored of him, “You’re hurting me Michael…not so tight.” Snorting his displeasure he tossed her arm aside and moved away and closer to the door.

Michael pushed her hard and the sweat flew off of his face as he threw his head back in one final thrust into her waiting chasm. Lexi’s hips still shook as Michael pulled away from her, leaving her to lie on the table cold and alone.

It is hard, this topic, but you handled it so well and maybe I’m a masochist but I want to see more of this /rage/confusion/insecurity/abandon/manipulation/control/escapism…this painful love.

I imagine that this is very close to what may have happened in his real life–this kind of complicated and painful love and dangerous escapism.

Anyway, thanks again for your writing. I love it, as always!

@minidasha

I think there was some of this happening too…

He had to have felt so alone at times for it all to have gone the way it did.

This chapter always makes me cry!! *sheds tears*
