Victim Of Love: VI

Victim Of Love: VI

March 2002

She was exhausted from lack of sleep and he was giddy from happiness when he finally dressed the next afternoon.

“Michael I wanted to ask you if it would be alright if “lannah and I came to The Ranch next week. Its spring break and I think it would be nice for us all to be together.”

She noticed that he got quiet and didn’t answer her question. Putting her arms around him she said,

“I would really like to see the baby too.”

Lexi felt him stiffen against her and she pulled away wondering what she might have said to upset him.

“You can’t see him and I can’t have you at The Ranch either.”

It was amazing how quickly the same old feeling of hurt could come back. How quickly his words could cut her down.

She brought her hand up to the necklace he had given her only hours earlier, removing it from her neck and laying it in his palm.

“I guess I don’t need this Michael…I don’t need a necklace or your meaningless validations to know I am strong.”

“Wait, Lex……”

“Why should I Michael? So you can give me some stupid excuse about how I can’t be around you? Apparently all you need me around for anymore is to get your rocks off.”

Michael stood frozen to the floor, the necklace draped across his fingers,

“It’s not like that…Babe. There is going to be a film crew at The Ranch next week. I mean, you can come up but we will have to disguise you.”

There was no mistaking the huge roll of her eyes when she turned to walk away and out of the French doors,

“Si Senor…I can play the part of your obedient maid.”

He heard her say as the door slammed shut.

Dropping the necklace on the coffee table Michael followed her out and into the backyard apartment.

“Damn Michael, can I have a minute, just a minute?”

“NO! No, Alexis. You were the one that wanted to stay out of the limelight. I always wanted you with me. When I found you again with “lannah you asked me to let her have a normal life, do you remember that?

Lexi refused to answer and Michael spun her around,

“Do you remember that?”

“Yes, yes I do. I don’t want her wearing masks and hiding, and not going to school because she is your daughter.”

“Ok, then sometime you just can’t be there. Sometime you won’t be able to see the baby Lex, not yet anyway. If the press sees us all together they will know you are his mother. It will be so obvious.”

Lexi searched his face hoping he had an answer but it didn’t come.

“When did it stop being fun Michael?”

“What?”

“When did the love we have for each other stop being fun? Don’t you remember how we used to laugh together, play together, couldn’t stand to spend a moment apart? What happened to us Michael?”

Sitting down on a bar stool, Michael took a deep breath and shook his head,

“I don’t know Lex. I miss it too.”

The ringing of his cell phone interrupted their conversation,

“Hello”

“Speaking”

“Yes…yes of course I know her. I…I spoke to her last week.”

“I see, um…I…I will fly up tonight. No, my staff and I will take care of the arrangements.”

“Can you please call my office and let my assistant know the details please. Yes, thank you. I will see you late this evening.”

“Yes…goodbye”

Flipping the phone closed Lexi was surprised to see it slip through his fingers and fall to the floor.

“Michael?”

He sat silently, he face as still as a statue.

“Michael, what happened?”

Lexi moved to his side, clearly concerned now that whatever he had heard on the call had upset him.

At last he spoke, his voice shaking and on the brink of tears.

“I, I have to go to San…San Francisco.”

“Ok”

“Lex…its Brette, Brette Davis, she passed away this morning.”

Feeling as if her stomach had been turned inside out, Lexi clutched his arm,

“Oh Michael…oh god.”

“I need to go take care of her…her arrangements. There is nobody else.”

“Can you drive?”

He turned to her, his eyes threatening to burst over with tears and merely shook his head.

“Come on, I will take you then. Do you want me to go with you to The City?”

All he could whisper was a weak, “Yes”, before he fell into her arms and wept.

_______________________________________________________________

Lexi sat with Michael and a small group of Brett’s friends at the memorial park outside of San Francisco a few days later. The weather was clear and the hint of spring was in the air as the Reverend spoke about the charity work Brette had devoted herself to in the last decade of her life. Michael sat quietly, occasionally dabbing his eyes and unbeknownst to Lexi, holding on to Hunter’s ring that had rested in his jacket pocket.

Brette’s friends had heard her tell of her friendship with Michael at times but always thought she was exaggerating or perhaps still suffering the effects from the accident that took her daughter’s life all those years ago. But now they had their proof, he had swept in and arranged a simple but elegant service and made sure that everything was billed back to him. They found it difficult at times to concentrate on what was being said due to the superstar in their mist, but Brette would have laughed as she watched them strain to get a better view of the clearly distraught man in the front row.

At last the service was over, Michael and Lexi returned to the limousine but he asked the driver to wait until the guests departed before he decided to visit the grave alone. He left with a small basket he had brought along from Neverland that morning and she could tell by the set of his shoulders that he was hurting over losing his friend…and Hunter’s mother.

The groundskeepers had not yet begun to push the soil and they humbly moved away, allowing Michael a moment alone. He didn’t speak, but he did wipe a tear from his face before opening the basket where he pulled out several flowers. Watching from the car Lexi recognized them as the flowers that grew at the base of the Giving Tree, Red roses and carnations. Michael inhaled their fragrance momentarily and then tossed the flowers into the hole. Finally he had a small jar; it looked like it might have been from the baby’s food to Lexi. She watched as he held it with his eyes closed for several minutes, she could tell he was fighting back a flood of tears but he had asked for his space and she didn’t want to embarrass him in front of the groundskeepers who were sure to be watching, albeit discreetly. At last he stepped forward and opened the jar and poured out the contents, it was merely dirt…ordinary dirt. She couldn’t help but be puzzled by his action, she had never known Brette to visit The Ranch but Michael felt that it was important to bring a piece of Neverland to her forever.

Sitting back in the limo, she wondered about the gesture as he slid in beside her.

“Let’s get out of here.”

“You alright?”

“I have a headache Lex.”

“Are you going back to The Ranch now or the hotel with me?”

Chewing on his thumbnail, he stared out of the window as the car turned into traffic.

“I should get back….he is there setting up shots already.”

“Michael, are you sure you want to do this with this guy? It’s not the same as just sitting down for forty-five minutes.”

Taking his hand she leaned her head on his shoulder,

“He is really good, he did Diana’s.”

Lexi felt a cold chill run up her spine, just hearing that name made her want to throw up. The interior of the limo began to get wavy and a single tear ran down her cheek. Hoping to hide it from him she turned her face into his arm.

“Everyone in England watched it, and it made them love her even more. He says that ours will be even better, better than what he did for the Princess.”

Glancing down for a moment he caught sight of Lexi’s eyes and stopped briefly,

“Did you think I meant Diane?”

She could only nod; knowing that if she spoke her voice would give her away.

“No…no girl, not her. The Princess….I’m sorry.”

Michael gathered her in his arms, gently kissing the side of her face.

“It just seems like we were so happy before she tore us apart Michael, I don’t think I can ever forgive her for that. I hate thinking about her.”

“Don’t…don’t think about her or what happened please. Baby we have to work on us.”

“I want to, god Michael I want to. I miss what we had, I still love you. You know that don’t you.”

“I do…”

Michael cupped her chin, pulling her lips to his.

“Babygirl…I do, and I love you too.”

She watched as he closed his eyes just as his lips met hers. His kiss was soft, sweet…tentative.

Lexi could sense the pain of the day in his touch and she wanted to hold him close. Sitting up in the seat she took hold of the bottom of her hem and yanked her skirt up and over her hips, straddling his lap as she began to desperately kiss him.

“Oh god, Lex…”

Michael’s hands ran up the length of her thighs and he squeezed her cheeks in his hands.

“Roll it up..”

“Mmmm”

“Baby, Michael roll up the glass.”

Glancing up as the partition rose, Michael saw that the driver staring at Lexi’s perfect backside in his mirror and struggling to stay in his lane.

“He wants you girl.”

“I want you too Michael.”

“No, the driver…he was watching us. He wants you.”

Lexi had her lips on his neck and was unbuttoning his shirt.

“Then let him watch…I don’t care, Mmmmm baby just make love to me.”

Pulling her blouse over her head Michael latched his lips over her nipple as she unzipped his pants.

His finger slid seductively between her legs and rotated on her hardening bud,

“You’re getting wet girl…gah come here.”

His voice was a harsh whisper against her ear as she rose up on her knees and positioned herself atop the tip of his hardened shaft.

“Make it stop Lex…”

Opening her eyes Lexi stared down into his face, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.

“What baby…make what stop?”

She whispered as she lowered down around him.

“The ache in my heart, make it go away again like you did before.”

Her hands flew to his face and she pulled his lips against her own as their bodies began their familiar groove.

“Oh Michael…”

His head was spinning and he began to remember another time, long ago in the back of a limousine.

“Hunter, I want you with me; do you understand what I am saying to you?”

Staring into Lexi’s eyes, she watched as silent tears started to fall down his cheeks. With every roll of her hips he seemed to become lost in a place she couldn’t reach,

“Michael, Michael, Michael”….he heard the screams of the fans

“Baby, Oh god I love you…” Lexi called as she rode him in passion.

His hands pulled her hips onto his and he thrust deeply, never breaking his tear filled gaze.

“We love you Michael”, “Michael, Michael, Michael you are the best Michael.” It was all so real to him, he was in the moment.

Lexi watched as his lip curled and he suddenly pressed his mouth to hers, his kiss urgent like he was trying to smother her. She almost choked he was so forceful, he was taking her…marking her as his own.

Breaking free of his lips she felt her heat rising and called out for him,

“Michael, come with me, come with now, Te amo…Te amo.”

Her words from Hunter’s past, and their own seemed to echo in his mind and he flipped from the moment, blended one lover with another.

“I need you Alexis; you’re like the air I breathe
.”

Time was frozen and his mind spun with every movement of their bodies, he struggled to focus on her but he had already moved to another place….and he was a young man again.

…”Everything I ever dreamed of…it’s Magic…magic.”

Calling out in desperation and ecstasy as he lost himself inside her, Lexi rolled atop him until he fell onto her chest. Watching him break down she realized he was crushed with the trials of the day.

Michael turned off the lamp and pulled the blanket up under Alannah’s chin after she was deeply asleep for the night.

“She’s down; I guess I should get back home.”

“Alright, are you going to be okay then?”

“I think so. Thanks for being there for me Lex.”

Walking over to the bar Lexi poured a Coke and sat down on the couch,

“Michael, can I ask you something?”

“Sure” he said sitting down next to her, “Anything you know that.”

Taking a drink she thought for a moment before she spoke,

“Is Hunter under your tree…at the ranch?”

She knew she was right when he turned his head and looked away.

“Michael, it doesn’t matter. I just know how much you love it, and today I watched you after the service. Plus I noticed that the stone next to the grave had her Father’s name on it, but there isn’t one for her.”

He sat for a long while before he answered, but when he did he gathered Lexi’s hand in his,

“Yes, they are there…their ashes are anyway. I wanted a little piece of them with her Mom is all.”

“That’s beautiful Michael…that’s why I love you. That’s why we have our babies, and I hope our future.”

Michael stared at their hands wrapped together before he finally looked up into her eyes,

“…and that’s why I love you Alexis, because you understand.”

“We’re going to be alright Michael…”

“I know girl, I know.”

Oh Wow girl losing Brette has been stirring up some strong emotions that Michael has been harboring for to long… I never seen that coming…. I have always said that they just needed to remember why they loved each other to begin with…. Maybe now its going to come back to them…. I hope so…..

And again I dedicate this song to Michael and Lexi….

Lots of Love Girl………..

Beautiful chapter DPYT! A very positive step in solidifying their relationship. They talked it out. Lexi had a premonition about the documentary. He reached out to Lexi to take his pain away, and Lexi is so understanding about Hunter. Wonderful ending, full of hope and promise for them.

Very nice chapter..so sweet and heartbreaking all at once

Great job as usual gurl

Wow! That was a good add-on! Can’t wait for more.

*shedding internet tears* This was awesome, really! I love how you worked it out between them. Such promise and hope, and understanding!

Is it that he cannot get over Hunter??? Not that anyone who loses a lover can, but he seems much more distraught mentally, than he lets on…it seems kinda unfair to Lexi! She lost her fiance too.

I love the update!

I think this was the most beautiful-est chapter you have ever written! I don’t know what to say, its really just amazingly beautiful.

Hunter and the baby are buried at the Giving Tree. My eyes are blurry right now.

Lexi, just take it easy; nice and slow. You have your man. Take care of him and the babies and you two will be just fine.

DPYT, you left us (& MJ/Lexi) with a beautiful dream to hold on to. They have so much to look forward to. Thank you.

Ok, this is why I feel this way: to me Lexi is the “star of this story (George Benson shameless plug).” I feel like she has “grown up” before my eyes over the course of this relationship. She weathered the MJ storm and now I feel like she really does understands him. She’s not going to change him. She loves him as he is. Whether he’s broken, whether he’s still sorting through his feelings or “acting out” over his past.

Her love is unconditional.

I didn’t think this could possibly get any better and you absolutely blew me out of the water….I actually caught myself holding my breath half way through the installment. My heart was pounding and I couldn’t read the next line fast enough.

For the first time, I actually feel some legitimate hope for Michael and Lexi and that’s saying a lot considering how devastated I was after the last couple installments. Amazing.

And then to bring in Hunter and Brett? Hunter is and always will be my achilles heel. (Damn you for making me cry!) If Michael can hold onto that sense of magic created in his true, deep love with Hunter then I have faith he can stick with Lexi and eventually come to love her as the man he truly wants to be.

Kudos to Lexi too for keeping her head and seeing the big picture. She’s growing too and that’s cool.

Dammit! You know I love you girl, but I hate you for makin me cry xx

I really feel for Michael. I guess hearing the news that Hunter’s mon had died stirred up old emotions Michael thought he had dealth with. Its wonderful that lexi understands that Hunter has a place in his heart.

I was really happy that Lexi listened to his reasons for not wanting her at the ranch and it was about time they talked about them and where they saw their relationship going.

They are bound to face problems along the way but I hope that they can deal with them together and focus on them for once.

OH MY GOD YESSS!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE U SOO MUCH DPYT! JUST LOVE YOUR STORIES THIS CHAPTER WAS GREAT. (AS ALWAYS 🙂 but i am kinda sad that we have to wait a while for the next chapter 🙁 … oh well i”ll just have to deal with it. and R.I.P Brette.

This chapter is so beautiful, emotional, and moving. I am sorry to hear about Brette, and I know her passing was difficult for Michael. I am glad Lexi was there to hold his hand during his grief, and so pleased to see that they are connecting again, and learning to communicate. Michael should take heed to Lexi’s warning though, but I am afraid it might be too late. 🙁

Wonderful chapter DPYT… L.O.V.E. IT

the limo driver watched???

*faints*

Wow, so beautiful and bittersweet. Now I miss Hunter all over again, I really loved her. I’m proud of Lexi for being there for Michael even tho he was less than cordial to him, this is what he needed, a woman who would be his rock when he needed it, even if it meant pushing herself to the side a moment. I know Michael felt like he might have lost last bit of Hunter in losing Brett, love him putting the ashes in the grave.

I hope this is the step in them moving forward…together. When will they just come out in public and be a family? I want a happy ending.
